Community Alternatives Coop was founded in 1975 and is located in beautiful Kitsilano, Vancouver, British Columbia. We are a self-managed Co-op offering a unique example of urban communal living through mutual accountability, creativity, and collaboration. There are 9 apartments (aka "pods") of different sizes, housing between 3 to 6 people sharing common areas such as kitchen, living room and bathrooms. All bedrooms have a private balcony or patio. The co-op is a non-smoking building.
As a member of the Co-operative Housing Federation of British Columbia (CHFBC), Community Alternatives Coop is committed to the values of diversity, affordability, self-management, democratic participation, shared responsibility, community, sustainability and respect.
We encourage all applicants to learn about housing co-operatives, their missions, values and principles. For more information about co-operative living, visit the Co-operative Housing Federation of British Columbia (CHFBC) website: www.chf.bc.ca
